Next craft group Thurs 16 Feb

The second session of the Craft Group will be held on Thursday 16th February, at 8pm in the Ashburnham Arms.

The first one went well - about a dozen people brought knitting, sewing and drawing materials, and there’s room for more if you'd like to join in. Everyone's welcome.

Next gardening date Sat 18 Feb

ATA gardeners are emerging from the winter lull, and will be in action soon - at the planter in the play street, and in the front and back gardens of number 75 Ashburnham Grove, which houses residents with learning disabilities. One plan is to plant colourful flowers there in the long raised bed at the front, as requested by Cynthia, the manager.
There are other corners of the Triangle to garden too. If you'd like to suggest any untended areas, contact Sara Emanuel at sjemanuel21@gmail.com or Janet Stott at
janstott@dircon.co.uk

Meanwhile the daffodils planted in previous Novembers are beginning to come up in four patches of the Triangle.

The gardeners will be out from 10am to 12pm on the following dates, and would be glad to welcome anyone who'd like to join in. Come to 75 Ash Grove, through the garden gate to the right of the building.

Latest news from the Safer Neighbourhoods team and Bike Marking event

We hope this news alert finds you well despite the cold weather returning. At the January meeting of the Greenwich West Ward Safer Neighbourhoods Panel, fortunately no residential burglaries were reported over the Christmas period and only one burglary in the Ashburnham Triangle from October 2016 - January 2017. Although the downward trend is good news, we should still remain vigilant and not let our guard down.

However there were six motor vehicle thefts (that is the theft of motor vehicles and theft from motor vehicles) during this period in the Triangle and approximately three thefts of pedal cycles. As ever if you see anything suspicious, call the police on 101 to report it. If you see a crime taking place, call 999. You can read the minutes of the October 2016 SNT panel meeting in full by clicking here.

Exchanging Places event and free bike marking

The police are holding an Exchanging Places event this Friday 10th February 16.00-18.30 at Cutty Sark Gardens.  They allow people to sit in the driver’s seat of a HGV or bus to get a better understanding of what the driver can and can’t see, especially with regard to cyclists on the nearside and directly in front of the vehicle and you can also get your bike security marked for free.

Your views on policing and crime in London

The Mayor of London has launched a Draft Police and Crime Plan and Londoners were asked to share their views on policing and crime by taking part in a survey last year.

On the following link, you can read/download the plan itself and make any comments or complete a survey as part of the formal consultation process. Consultation ends on 2nd March.

New community premises? Meeting next Wednesday

Lynsi Lourigney and friends (we know no more about them as yet) are inviting us all to suggest community uses for a building in the Triangle
at a meeting next Wednesday 8th February at 8pm.

In their own words from the invitation pictured:
'We're hosting a community input meeting for local residents in the Ashburnham Triangle at
10 Devonshire Drive SE10 8LA (formerly Devonshire Drive Baptist Church).

'Plans are under way to start a new project at the property and the team leaders would very much value the input of the local community on how the building may be used by local residents and the community (ie mums and tots, café, facility hire, etc).
Tea, coffee and cake will be provided.'
