Traffic proposal for Blackheath Hill junction

TFL are proposing changes to Blackheath Hill’s junction with Blackheath Road, Lewisham Road and Greenwich South Street. TFL's proposals involve a new signalised pedestrian crossing, further safety improvements and changes to loading bay arrangements.
The proposals are:

  • Installing a new staggered pedestrian crossing on Blackheath Hill, at its junction with Greenwich South Street, Lewisham Road and Blackheath Road
  • Raising the carriageway floor to slow turning motor traffic on the left turn slip from Greenwich Street to Blackheath Hill
  • Removing loading bays from Blackheath Road direction Blackheath Hill to improve traffic flow on the A2, and extending the loading bay on Blackheath Road direction Lewisham

The proposals seek to address issues highlighted to TFL by local residents concerned with pedestrian safety at the vicinity. They are also designed to improve traffic flow on the corridor.

Safer Neighbourhood Update

I would like to bring the following to your attention following last week's meeting.

Delaney House
Slightly outside the Triangle, but the police are appealing for information.

On 22nd May at approximately 2:20pm near Delaney House (Thames Street, SE10), there was a shooting whereby a male was seriously assaulted by another male.  Did you see, hear or capture the event on any devices? In the strictest confidence please contact Trident Gang Crime Command on 020 8247 4863 or 07585 888841.

The Village Food & Wine shop in Greenwich Town centre is currently under investigation from the London Fire Brigade following a fire at the premises on 28 June. It appears the fire started in a timber structure at the rear of the building.

mobile phone theft on the rise
Mobile phone theft is rising at an alarming rate with Police now advising you not to use your phone whilst walking in the street. There has been a recent spate of thieves on mopeds who snatch phones from pedestrians within the Town centre.  Always be aware of your surroundings and if you need to make a call, keep it brief and stand away from the road.

Within the Triangle, during the last two months there has been 6 burglaries, 4 reported incidents of thefts from motor vehicles, 2 reported incidents of tampering to motor vehicles and 1 stolen bike.

If you need to contact our Safer Neighbourhood Police Team at any time please find below their contact details:

Electric Vehicle Lamppost Charging Consultation

The ATA has been notified by Transport team at the Council that a public consultation has gone live to allow them to consider locations within the Borough to trial lamppost charging for electric vehicles. There is a link to the consultation below and it is your opportunity promote the Triangle and your street. The trial is really focused on existing EV owners and those considering buying an EV in the future that might be put off by limited opportunities to charge in the vicinity but this is our opportunity to promote the Triangle and to encourage EV's to the area.
Whilst we haven't seen the style of the charging points we'd assume they are more fitting for the conservation area by being linked to lampposts than the charging points on Blisset Street and Maidenstone Hill which are our closest charging points currently.
