Move It or Lose It: new fitness classes now available locally

New fitness classes are now available in Greenwich West Community Centre. Designed specifically for older generations, these sessions are held every Tuesday (10-11am) in the main hall of Greenwich West. People are welcome to join at any time, and their first session is offered for free. Sessions are being led by Sarah McGowan. Sarah  trained with an organisation called Move it or Lose it and the exercises have been devised with Birmingham University's Centre for Healthy Ageing Research. The exercises can all be done seated or standing. All exercises are designed to have a purpose for everyday living whether that’s helping people maintain or improve their ability to reach for something on a shelf, carry their shopping, avoid falls or get from sit to stand. They are fun, too, and a great way to socialise. Trainers or pumps are advisable and either exercise clothing or just comfortable clothing. Park It in the Market, Greenwich Market: 30 October, 7:30-10pm

Park it in the Market, Greenwich Market’s celebration of vintage cars, bikes and rock’n’roll, is on again for Halloween! From 7:30-10pm on Thursday 30st October, the Market will be packed with gleaming chrome and shiny antique paint jobs, all surrounded by jack-o’lanterns, bats, spiders’ webs and other seasonal décor. Plus, stallholders and exhibitors will transform themselves into vampires, werewolves, ‘Frankensteins’ and other creatures of the night. Dress to impress (or distress!) and enter into the spooky spirit of this fabulous, free event. Expect live music, DJs, vintage stalls and the Market’s famous world of street food options. Santa's Grotto at the Queen's House: 22 November-24 December 2025

This winter, step inside the former royal residence and journey into an enchanting world, inspired by the Christmas story of  The Nutcracker . Immerse yourself in the colourful delights of the ‘Land of Sweets’ and the ‘Land of Ice and Snow’. Along the way, meet Clara and the Nutcracker, hear their spellbinding tales, and enjoy performances from tin soldiers. Your adventure finishes in Santa's Grotto, where little ones can meet Santa Claus himself and take home a special gift. With soaring Christmas trees, lavish decorations and twinkling lights, the Queen’s House provides a majestic backdrop for an unforgettable festive experience.
