Urgent: Ukraine refugee host families wanted

Dear Ashburnham Triangle community,  Many of you know me as an ATA fun hub coordinator or a neighbour. I’m originally from Ukraine and working hard on securing a safe route to the UK for some of my family and friends. If any of you have a spare room you can offer to a Ukrainian refugee, please email me at anastasia.hgy@gmail.com . Please specify your preference (single, family, or a couple) and whether or not you would allow pets.  Many thanks in advance for your welcome. Anastasia

Shelter donation update

An update on the takings from the Christmas Carol collection organised by Robin and Janet Stott last December. An additional £105 was collected by Pepina at the Ashburnham Arms, making a generous total of £335 donated to Shelter, the charity for the homeless. Well done, everyone.

Thanks from Shelter

Janet and Robin Stott have received the following letter from Shelter, thanking everyone for the £400 donated to the charity from last month’s Christmas Carols night: “On behalf of everyone at Shelter, thank you so much for your amazing donation of £400! This amount will really help make a difference to Shelter’s work with homeless and badly housed people throughout the UK. Please pass on our thanks to everyone involved for their support and generosity. “Shelter believes everyone should have a home. We help 170,000 people a year fight for their rights, get back on their feet and find and keep a home. We also tackle the root causes of Britain’s housing crisis by campaigning for new laws, policies and solutions. We can only do this with your help. “Bad Housing Wrecks Lives. We are the fourth richest country in the world, and yet millions of people in Britain wake up every day in housing that is run-down, overcrowded or dangerous. Many others have lost their home altogether. ...

ATA get together, free cake and wine, 21st June

Chris Ward, Chair of the ATA, says: Well actually it’s our 2018 AGM. Now these are far from formal and stuffy. We aim to reflect the vibrancy and pace of our community. The Ashburnham Triangle community (as defined by the Council) is estimated to be around 3,000. That’s 3,000 lives living, working, playing in the area and the pace of change is rampant. New developments, new businesses, new attractions, new safety concerns, new opportunities. It’s our job to make sure you have your say in what goes on and voice any comments or concerns you have, as well as bringing us together as a community. Our AGM is the one point in the year when all the parts of the ATA get together and talk about plans for the future. So please, don’t write it off, come and join in, have your say. We have events to talk about, we have new initiatives to discuss, we have positions we’d like volunteers for, and we’d really like to hear from you. So come along, there is cake and wine - yes...

What charities shall the ATA support?

Chris Ward, ATA chair, says: Hello The Ashburnham Triangle Association is a thriving community of about 3,500 people who live, work and socialise in the Triangle. The ATA is dedicated to connecting and informing our community, empowering and inspiring it to reap the collective benefits of living together irrespective of our differences. The ATA is a non-profit organisation: we raise money through social events which we put back into community initiatives and charities. In 2018/19 the ATA would like to have four selected charities to donate funds to. This is where you come in. We’d like to invite suggestions for two national charities, and two local charities (within or directly adjacent to the Triangle). Please email any and all suggestions to Chris Ward, Chair of the ATA at ward@live.co.uk with ATA charity suggestions in the subject line. We will take all feedback and views and announce which charities we’d like to support at our AGM. The AGM will be held at 7.30pm on 21st June a...
