Reminder: rules around weekend building works

Hello everyone - at the suggestion of an AT resident, I am circulating the below RBG guidelines around building works noise at the weekends. More detailed information can be found by clicking on this link.

In the Royal Borough of Greenwich, general construction and noisy building works are restricted to 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturdays, with no noisy work allowed on Sundays or bank holidays.
Weekend Building Hours
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (noisy activities like power tools, hammers, and heavy plant equipment are strictly limited to this window).
  • Sunday: Prohibited (no noisy construction or demolition work permitted).
  • Bank Holidays: Prohibited.
(Note: Weekday construction hours run from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday).
What Counts as Noisy Work?
  • Using power tools (drills, saws, sanders).
  • Using hand tools (hammers, chisels).
  • Operating heavy plant equipment (Kango hammers, pneumatic breakers, cement mixers).
  • Demolition and structural alterations.
How to Report Illegal Weekend Noise
If builders are creating disruptive noise outside of permitted hours, you can report it to the local authority through the Royal Borough of Greenwich Noise Nuisance Reporting page or call their main line at 020 8921 8921.

Maureen Romeril, February 25th The Ministry of Justice has confirmed that it will close 64 courts within the next two years including Greenwich Magistrate Court on Blackheath Road.  The Court was built in 1909 and is a Grade II listed building situated in a reasonably large site in the Ashburnham Conservation area. It will be interesting to see what happens to this site. The Grade II listing will restrict major redevelopment of the building.

Local discussion - planning application for Ashburnham Place: 5 November, 6:30pm, Ashburnham Arms

Hello everyone, Please join us on Wednesday evening, 6:30pm in the back room of the Ashburnham Arms for a conversation with Chris Horn, client project lead, to present the revised application to build three houses to replace the garages on Ashburnham Place (opposite St. Marks Centre). Originally submitted as a larger development to construct five houses, and with planning permissions refused, this is being brought back as a smaller scheme following advice from the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Hannah Cornett, the architect involved with the planning, will also be in attendance. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible to discuss this significant building application within the Triangle. Do aim to arrive early to get your seat (and drinks). Snacks will be made available as well.
