Reminder: rules around weekend building works
Hello everyone - at the suggestion of an AT resident, I am circulating the below RBG guidelines around building works noise at the weekends. More detailed information can be found by clicking on this link.
In the Royal Borough of Greenwich, general construction and noisy building works are restricted to 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturdays, with no noisy work allowed on Sundays or bank holidays.
Weekend Building Hours
- Saturday: 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (noisy activities like power tools, hammers, and heavy plant equipment are strictly limited to this window).
- Sunday: Prohibited (no noisy construction or demolition work permitted).
- Bank Holidays: Prohibited.
(Note: Weekday construction hours run from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday).
What Counts as Noisy Work?
- Using power tools (drills, saws, sanders).
- Using hand tools (hammers, chisels).
- Operating heavy plant equipment (Kango hammers, pneumatic breakers, cement mixers).
- Demolition and structural alterations.
How to Report Illegal Weekend Noise
If builders are creating disruptive noise outside of permitted hours, you can report it to the local authority through the Royal Borough of Greenwich Noise Nuisance Reporting page or call their main line at 020 8921 8921.
