Next local history group talk: 14 May, 7:30pm

Hello everyone - a reminder that the next local history group talk will be on Thursday 14 May at 7:30pm in the lovely West Greenwich Library.

Many of you will know Mick Delap whose presentation is on the following theme:

  • Who WAS who in West Greenwich? The why and the how of remembering local figures. And who is missing?

From blue plaques to street names, and statues to schools, Mick will talk about who is remembered and how... and asking you, do you agree?

Mick will suggest, for the Ashburnham Triangle, the names of figures he feels have been left out of our own local story. There is, for instance, a great lack of women and non-establishment figures. Maybe you have a local name you would like to add to Mick’s list - if so, please tell us on the night!

Mick hopes we can end the evening with a straw poll vote on who we would most like to see the Ashburnham Triangle remembering - perhaps as a first step to adding a new chapter to the story of our own neighbourhood.

Looking forward to seeing you there and hearing your suggestions.
