Next local history group talk: 26 February, 7:30pm
Hello everyone - sharing on behalf of Barbara Reid:
The next local history group talk will be on Thursday 26 February at 7.30pm in the lovely West Greenwich Library.
Our speaker is David Whittaker. Many of you will remember David’s last talk on the lost pubs of Greenwich. This talk is on W.A. Wilson, Temperance Brewer.
David says: The Wilson family lived on Egerton Drive between about 1914 and 1954. William Anthony Wilson founded the company in Nottingham, moving to London and opening his works at Eastney Street in East Greenwich. The talk includes information on the family, the factory and the drinks it produced, and considers these in the context of the temperance movement in Greenwich.
Thanks to all of you who came to Lynn Dixon’s fascinating talk in November and I want to say a big thank you to all our speakers who volunteer their time and research so that these talks are available for everyone to attend for free.
I
look forward to seeing many of you on the 26th February.
