MONDAY 8 th  December 2025 - The next Arts Society Greenwich Art Talk With our last lecture of 2025 we aim to get you in the Christmas mood with mince pies and the most Christmasy of talks: St Nicholas of Myra and Santa Claus: A Case of Mistaken Identity Our guest speaker - Sally Dormer When - Monday 08 December 2025 Where - @James Wolfe School, Royal Hill Campus, Royal Hill, Greenwich, SE10 8RZ. (Parking available) How did the remains of Nicholas, a fourth-century bishop from Myra, Turkey, reach Bari, Italy in 1087? And how did this rather obscure churchman become the patron saint of sailors, merchants, prisoners and children in the Byzantine Empire and Western Europe? This lecture explores the development of St Nicholas’ medieval cult through the artefacts associated with it: icons, wall paintings and illuminated manuscripts, and charts his eventual transformation into the well-loved Santa Claus. Evening concert at the Queen’s House: Saturday, 6 December // limited free tickets for AT residents

With Christmas fast approaching and as a matter of appreciation for our support this year, Royal Museums Greenwich are offering 5 complimentary tickets to members of the Ashburnham Triangle Association for their upcoming concert:   Evening concert at the Queen’s House with the Holtág Quartet | Royal Museums Greenwich  Saturday 6 December 2025, 7.30pm-8.30pm.   Royal Museums Greenwich are excited for The Quartet to perform- the group comprises students from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. They made their debut on BBC Radio 3's In Tune and were awarded the Sir John Barbirolli Prize for String Quartets.   This concert is part of a series of evening performances at the Queen's House, organised in partnership with the Faculty of Music at Trinity Laban and generously supported by The Rainbow Dickinson Trust.
