Theft from vehicles  Our Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhood Team have recently informed us that there has been a recent increase in theft from motor vehicles. Please ensure you always lock and close all windows on your vehicle. A numerous amount of cars within the Triangle have been leaving either the driver or passenger window open making theft from vehicles extremely easy. It is imperative not to leave anything of value on show. Any recharging cables, Sat Navs or even Sat Nav holders should all be removed from the vehicle as this is a hint to a would be thief that there is something of value inside the car. If possible, do not even leave anything inside the glove department. Leave the glove compartment open so it shows any would be thief that there is nothing left in the vehicle. Charter House Also, earlier this week, the Charter Buildings situated within Catherine Grove was targeted by two people on a motorcycle who deliberately forced the car park gates open...

Owen Hopkins, author of the recently published book: ‘From the Shadows. The architecture and afterlife of Nicholas Hawksmoor’ has very generously agreed to come and talk about his book on Friday 1st July at West Greenwich Library Wine will be served from 6.30pm and the talk will begin at 7.00pm. Signed books will be on sale at the time of the talk and tickets, at £5 each, are available on the door and on the Greenwich Society website .

A full-size sea-going replica 17th century warship is planned for the Convoys Wharf development in Deptford with a marine crafts centre and John Evelyn’s garden recreated nearby. On Wednesday 13th July 8pm in the Ashburnham Arms SE10 8UH project directors Julian Kingston and Roo Angel will show us plans and progress. Chaired by Mick Delap. Dean is opening the Ash up early on Thursday, June 16th in time for the 2pm kick-off so we can watch the Euro 2016 clash between England v Wales on the pub’s big TV screens.  The pub’s kitchen won’t be open but, importantly, the bar will be! See you there.

We have just been informed by our Safer Neighbourhood Police Team that Lewisham Borough have had an increase in shoulder surfing at cash points, especially targeting the elderly. The oldest victim has been 91. Shoulder surfing is the practice of spying on the user of a cash-dispensing machine or other electronic device in order to obtain their personal identification number, password, etc. Lewisham Police have been displaying the below leaflet to raise awareness. You may have seen them being displayed at cash points. The key points are: Shield you PIN. Report anyone suspicious. Don't let strangers assist you at cash points. If cash machine appears to be faulty report it to the bank immediately. If possible, try not to let anyone push in front of you at cash points. The Open Gardens Festival for the Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice will be held on three days this year. Saturday 11th, 12-3pm: only the hospice garden itself is open. Sunday 12th,   12-5pm: 15 gardens are open, mainly in Blackheath                          and Kidbrooke, and a few in Eltham and Bexley. Sunday 19th,   12-5pm: a different 15 gardens are open, 12 in                           Greenwich and the rest in Eltham and Charlton.
