Hello everyone - as you know, plans have been submitted for the redevelopment of the Lewisham College Deptford Campus into a complex of hundreds of new flats. These plans have elicited resident concerns about the potential impact of such a significant development on both neighbourhood and skyline. On Wednesday 7 May, 7pm at the Ashburnham Arms, please join us for a discussion of the redevelopment project. These plans have elicited a variety of responses, both positive from negative, from area residents in Greenwich and Lewisham who have concerns about the potential impact of such a significant development on both neighbourhood and skyline. On Wednesday 7 May, 7pm at the Ashburnham Arms, please join us for a discussion of the redevelopment project. Depending on the turnout (and weather), we may also use the adjoining Ashburnham Retreat space. Hello everyone - as you know, our next street party is scheduled for Sunday 8 June. As they did last year, John Payne Estate Agents is financially sponsoring the event - and as part of their sponsorship, they will produce street party promotional placards to be placed outside Triangle houses for 30 days. These help greatly to promote the event. John Payne places the placards then removes them after 30 days. Worked like clockwork last year! I am pleased to announce that Highroad Social , located at 178 Greenwich High Road, is now participating in the ATA Card scheme. MammaKind is a baby bank providing clothes, toys, baby equipment, essential hygiene items and baby food to families in poverty in the south-east London boroughs of Bromley, Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham. The majority of the families they support are headed by a single mother and many face additional disadvantages, such as disability or having experienced violence, and have no recourse to public funds. The removal of the benefit uplift, refugee crisis and cost-of-living crisis has created even more demand for our help. Hello everyone - a few updates on activities at Highroad Social (178 Greenwich High Road) that may be of interest: Enjoy cocktails with Josh during the 'Social Hour' period, Wednesday-Friday, 4-6pm. Josh has been working on a new cocktail and wine list, including developing the 'Social Hour' concept by offering 2-for-1 on selected cocktails, wines by the glass and schooners of beer. On Wednesday, 26 March, 19.00 in the Crow's Nest bar, Greenwich Picturehouse's own @obiwan_kenbrobi  will be testing your knowledge of all things film. This month's theme is general knowledge, with each round being themed in some way. No big clues, but they suggest brushing up on your Oscar winner and films that are decidedly green. Some Star Wars, Marvel, and fantasy would probably help too! As part of a Royal Borough of Greenwich scrutiny review of the Thames Path, Councillors Pat Slattery and Aidan Smith are hosting a series of Walk & Talks throughout March to explore key sections of the path, hear from local stakeholders, and discuss ways to improve accessibility, safety, and community engagement.
