Advent Windows

Each year St Alfege Church in Greenwich organises its Advent Windows, which is now a beloved Christmas tradition and is in its 14th year. This year’s theme is “Near & Far.” Read more about it here

Shops, homes, schools and pubs use their imagination and artistry to produce the living Advent Calendar. A newly decorated window will be revealed, or “opened”, on each day of Advent (1st to 24th December) in different parts of Greenwich. A variety of media will be used, including paper art, models, light installations and paintings.

Once all 24 Advent Windows have been opened, seeing all of them usually takes around 3 hours on foot. You can view a programme of the window locations, or read about the window openings after each event on their website here. A summary of the window openings for the current day can be found under “Today’s Window”.

The windows will stay up until Sunday, 3 January 2021.
